Here in this article, I will be comparing internet marketing to President Donald Trump’s authoritarianism, and how they are similar. Some people feel with Donald Trump as president we are going to see more of an authoritarian approach to government.
If you believe that you also believe that personal freedom will be lost to a certain extent.
Why?
Authoritarianism is based on a government that is run more like a dictator. A dictator is not going to be in favour of personal freedom.
How would that affect Internet marketing?
People would be less inclined to even start an online business because they would not feel it was in their best interest. I mean why even try to improve your own financial situation if you were going to be told what to do, how to do it, how much income you could keep, and so on…
The flip side to this, of course, is that there has never been a better time to start and run your own Internet business thanks to the election of Donald Trump.
In this article, I will take a kind of a point-counterpoint look at how having Donald Trump as president will affect us trying to do Internet marketing, both with and without personal freedom.
Much of the hype around Donald Trump’s Authoritarianism is based on campaign rhetoric regarding Mexico, illegal immigration, building a wall, banning Muslims, and so on. His belief is why have a country of laws if those laws are not being followed.
The angry white vote that got Trump elected goes back to these stances on immigration. From a jobs standpoint, the angry white voter is tired of having jobs taken by illegal immigrants.
They are tired of paying more in taxes to cover the costs associated with more population in the U.S. on food stamps, welfare, etc. They do not like the fact that illegal immigrants work in America and send their checks back to Mexico taking money out of the U.S. economy.
From an Internet marketing standpoint, all of this really makes little difference because when you sell things online you are not always affected by a local or even a national economy. You can be operating on the World Wide Web which is called that for a reason.
Donald Trump Tax Cuts
This is one of the primary reasons an Internet marketer can get excited about having Donald Trump as president. He is looking to simplify the tax code going from 7 tax brackets to 3.
He is looking at cutting the corporate tax rate to 15% which will encourage corporations to stay and invest in job growth in the United States. A recent meeting with Mexican Billionaire businessman Carlos Slim offers a positive vibe regarding business in the U.S. and Mexico and how both countries can actually work closely together in a mutually beneficial way.
The idea of cutting taxes has seen a surge in the last month in the stock market as well. Individuals and businesses are excited to think about what having more money to work with can mean to them and their businesses.
In a government based on authoritarianism, this would not be happening. When you take away personal choices you eliminate incentives and that is what free enterprise is based on.

Internet Marketing The Next 4 Years
Looking beyond Wall Street and corporate America I see a time between 2017 and 2021 to really get excited if you are an Internet marketer, or thinking about becoming one.
You may wonder why all the enthusiasm David?
1. Opportunities. I see more Internet businesses being started which creates more opportunities for all of us.
Not only will people be starting more online businesses they will need more products and services to operate those businesses profitably. This means more copywriters, web designers, marketing companies, and so on.
It means more products will be created which translates into more selling opportunities for affiliate marketers. Somebody has to sell these products and affiliate marketing is poised to be at the forefront of these sales.
2. Disposable income. This has been an area that has really dropped in the past and if Donald Trump’s approach to business and taxes works people will have more disposable income.
This will come from more people working and more income being kept due to lower taxes. Disposable income will also go up as more people supplement their income from Internet marketing.
3. Small business growth. There are going to be more businesses started offline and online in the next 4 years.
This can bump up a local economy faster than anything the government does because of how quickly it can happen. Trump has indicated he wants to lower regulations for businesses and the small business person can jump on this faster.
As local businesses grow they spend money too. Local business marketing is going to include Internet marketing because that is where people go to find a business today.
Social media marketing, pay-per-click ads, search engine optimization, email marketing, and much more are how local businesses need to market effectively today. That means more time and money spent online which can only benefit Internet marketers in whatever their specialty is.
Final thoughts
I am interested to see exactly how Donald Trump governs in the next 4 years. Will we see Donald Trump’s Authoritarianism or more of a push toward personal freedom where the government is there to help businesses and not hold them back?
