monetizing Your Website With building a websiteAffiliate Marketing

If you want to easily monetize your blog I think you should learn about affiliate marketing. It is a way to make money by promoting specific services or products on your website for a commission from sales, clicks, or leads. I suggest taking the free training course I offer from Wealthy Affiliate.

Affiliate marketing has been one of my best strategies now for years. Highlighted below are tips to help you.
1. Choose the Right Product: You will start earning money when people click on your anchor text links to a website and purchase a product that you are promoting.

The product that you are endorsing and recommending should be relevant to the content on your blog. Plus, you need to make your content engaging and appealing to your readers.

2. Endorse the right product: Before you start turning your passion into making money do thorough research on what you will be endorsing. Remember your readers trust you. Based on this I feel you should personally own any affiliate product you promote.

3. Look at 3 affiliate marketing ways to make money. I make money with pay-per-click, pay-per-lead, and pay-per-sale. You should as well! You will earn 68% of the click from Google, a few cents to many dollars on pay per lead, up to 75% commissions on digital sales, and a varying rate on physical product sales.

Email Marketing

How To Monetize Your Website Or Blog - through email marketing

Having an email list is a great way to reach out to your clients on a personal level. To start making money off your mailing list use it as a way to promote, entice and ultimately sell your products and services. One of the great things about email marketing is it is incredibly cheap. Besides, being cheap it is handy.

Google AdSense

If you are thinking of making money out of Ads then you should think about Google AdSense. This type of advertising program is referred to as our pay-per-click in which website owners display relevant ads on your website.

After you apply for AdSense and place them on your website, it will automatically display ads on your blog. The ads you put on your site are set by advertisers to earn profit and revenue from the traffic coming to your blog. One of the merits of AdSense is entirely free.

Banners Ads and Selling Ad Space

If you have a popular blog advertisers can rent space on your blog to place a banner with a link to their website. Just like any other advertisement the sole purpose of a banner is to get people visiting your site to click on the banner, with the ultimate goal of purchasing a product. This is a common way to promote pay-per-lead affiliate programs.

Clickbank and Amazon

You may as well join 2 of the largest and best affiliate programs for pay-per-sale affiliate marketing. Clickbank is a great digital marketing site with many top features, benefits, products, and commissions. Amazon is a buyer’s search engine and the place to be to sell physical as well as digital products.

Offer Courses to Your Community

Are you experienced in the niche you are blogging about and have comprehensive knowledge about the field? If your answer is yes, then you have an opportunity to create an exclusive opportunity for your visitors by building an online course.

You can start by selling a comprehensive report, or ebook, or setting up something like a 3-month blogging section on topics that your target audience is interested in learning more about.

As well, you can offer your readers both a paid and free course. With such a plan your audience will be appreciative that you share the basic tenets of your niche for free. In addition, you can use the freemium course to persuade them to register for a paid advanced class, and through this, you will have made some money.

final thoughts

Having a passion for what you market online is a great thing. I have barely scratched the surface of ways to monetize that passion.

As you can see in this article, as well as many others on my blog, I am partial to affiliate marketing as the best and easiest way to make money online.

There really is no end to online products to match any passion on the Internet today. If you can’t find things to sell use Google AdSense and let them pay you by the click for ads they sell.

You can also consider creating your own products and selling them on your own website or blog if affiliate products are readily available., Or course one great thing about that is you keep 100% of the profit which is not the case in affiliate marketing.

So the first thing you need to do is to build a website, get your very own domain, and build your brand to be able to promote it wherever you choose on the Internet.

  1. Great article. There are actually just so many ways one can make money if one has a good blog, and some of the things that you mentions I would never have even thought of like offering courses, and also selling ad space to people other than Google.

I use Adsense and Amazon as the main monetizing methods on my blog. I also have the odd clickbank product. I find if there are too many different affiliate companies involved, it becomes more difficult to keep track of them all.

    • The Internet is vast, and some Affiliate Programs may not be in certain countries, so is good to give a big list so that the masses can choose which is best in there country.

All that you use is great and works best if you are giving value to your audience. The rah rah way of marketing and showing the shiny objects do not work today. People are realizing that it takes time to make money and anyone can achieve it if they follow the right process and training. This is the reason I recommend Wealthy Affiliate.

The different ways that you mention to monetize your website draw my attention, and some of them i had no knowledge of. thank you for providing these tips. Will definitely put them to use on my website.

Thanks for sharing the great ideas and adding some additional tools to my tool belt. i will be reaching out to you to help me implement some or all of these ideas.

    • Hey Jay, thank you for reaching out and giving some kind words on my website. It is always good to know that your readers can gain value on the content that you share. This is on of the main reason I build this website.

Monetizing your website is great, but your best approach is to give value to your audience. If you can recognize a problem and have a solution, you are on the right track in building a successful business.

People search the Internet today for answers to their problems, that is the reason Google become so famous. Google it! is such a common term today, that the kids are using it on a daily basis to solve simple problems. Glad that you are on the right track, Jay. Thanks for the feedback.

  3. Thank you for great post you shared with us. I was impressed by Google Adsense as one of  the type of advertising program. I have a question,is it possible to earn money from those ads placed on my website?

I don’t understand how it benefits the owner of the website. Need some clarification if possible

    Thank you

    • Glad the you got some value here, and yes you can earn money by people clicking on your Google Adsense ads on your website as you gain traffic overtime. Although the monies are small, it can really ad up as you build up your website in the long run.

I always advise is to start by giving vale to your audience and when your website is starting to gain authority, then you can place these ads which Google would pay you some cents as people click on these ads. Is a win win for both the owner of the website as people already pay for these ads on Google.

Keep in mind that ads can increase your bounce rate and cause your rankings to drop. But can build a website for Google Adsense only. Hope I was able to give some clarity here.

I clicked through to your recommendation of Wealthy Affiliate.  You mention a “free” option and then a premium membership.  How long can you stay with the free option?  Is it for a limited time before you have to upgrade?

Does a person need to already have a website to do this?

  8. Hello, thank you for this very formative article, I have learned a lot about the way you can monetize your content such as through affiliate marketing.

Being in my 3rd month in WA, I did not really understand how you can make money blogging apart from having affiliate marketing ads. However now I know that there are other ways like pay per click, lead and sale. These terms are now more clear to me know.

In your summary you suggested that one can even sell their own products they created. My question is, is it possible like to sell for example souvenirs through my website whereby if someone happens to visit my country can buy either physically or online?  And if I have to sell my own products online is it easy especially how do you make arrangements with payment?

I am in Africa and I am targeting the international community in my ninche.

    • Glad that I was able to shed some light on how to monetize your website in this article. When starting out, most of my team members were having trouble with this.

As you go through your training with Wealthy Affiliate this will become much clearer to you as you complete all the tasks that is available in the lessons.

Selling your own products online is possible as well, but the time it takes to fulfill that sale would be more time consuming that getting into Affiliate Marketing when all the work is done for you. But the good part is that with your own product the you get to keep all of the profits. This is how you make payment arrangement on your website, https://www.wpbeginner.com/plu… Hope that helps!

  9. Hi David. Thanks for that useful post on monetizing your website. I found it useful because I have been building a website for one year, and have been getting fairly good traffic, but no sales yet. I have not got into email marketing yet, but will have to investigate it soon.

I have registered for Google AdSense, but not activated it yet. What is your opinion on it? I’m worried about losing some traffic if I put ads on my website.

You mentioned Pay per Click and Pay per Lead, but I don’t know how they work, are they something I can use with Amazon?

    Thanks for a great post.

    • Greg, thank you for the comment. Glad that I was able to shed some light here on monetizing your website, and was able to use some tips to help you build yours. Sales come when you incorporate email marketing in your business, so you should begin with it as soon as possible.

Although one can make money with Google AdSense, I can lean against it when starting out on a new website. When a website is getting tens of thousands of traffic daily, then Adsense will serve well. ads will increase your bounce rate causing you to loose rankings in the search engines.

PPC is paid advertising that you can leverage for any business. You can use Bing, Google or Facebook ads where you pay for someone to click on your ads. In a pay per lead agreement, the advertiser only pays for leads generated at their destination site. No payment is made for visitors who don’t sign up. Hope that helps!

  10. Thanks for the tips on how to make money blogging. I initially put up my website as a platform to develop my writing skills and share some relevant information related to my niche. I never actually thought of monetizing my website but if I can make some cash while writing about the things that I am passionate about, that would be great.

I have tried applying for AdSense but was denied twice so I’m just wondering what qualifies a website to be accepted by AdSense. With regards to affiliate marketing, I read somewhere that your affiliate partner will only pay you once for each customer you send to them to buy their products, even if that customer will purchase products from them repeatedly using your affiliate link. In other words, the day you sent your affiliate partner a customer is the same day you lose that customer, to them.

I can actually attest to this because I have one customer who purchased many products from my affiliate partner, repeatedly and I only got paid the first time. Because in his succeeding purchases, they already considered him as their customer, not my referral. Isn’t this kind of unfair? What do you think?

    • Glad to see that you are blogging and writing what have the passion about. This is the direction that I recommend for anyone starting out, whether you want to monetize your website or not.

Normally your site needs to online for some time. This would help https://support.google.com/ads

You right about Affiliate Marketing about your customers, and that is the reason I believe that email marketing should be part of your business so that your list stays with you as you build a relationship.

Your Affiliate link would only be on the product you are promoting. for example if your niche is about computers and receive a customer from buying a computer on your affiliate link, if that customer wanted to get a washing machine and that is not what you promote, it would be unfair to the ones that is promoting washing machines. This happens on Amazon frequently. Hope you understand.

It is impossible to promote all amazon products or other affiliate programs with one Affiliate link. In the case of Wealthy Affiliate promoting one program, that is not the case. Talk to you soon.
