What is ACN?

ACN was started back in1993 by Robert Stevanovski, Greg Provenzano, and Tony and Mike Cupisz, the latter two twins. At first, the company was a marketing firm for LCI Communications.

After a merger and buyout, ACN expanded its operation from an American communications firm to an international MLM corporation focused on communications, energy service, and other similar products.

Over the years, ACN expanded into 25 more countries, including the Czech Republic. They have their fingers in a variety of telecommunications and energy pies. These include internet services, television services, security services, and the energy sector.

Believe it or not, between 2006 and 2015, the company had business ties with Mr. Donald Trump. In 1998 the company was listed at number 22 on the Inc’s 500 fastest-growing companies list.

The company is more of a reseller than a manufacturer of its own products. They use different companies to work with, like AT&T, Xoom Energy, and Planet Energy. Their representatives work more for the different companies as those individual corporations fulfill their services.

How Does ACN Work?

ACN works like most MLM corporations. They have a sign-up fee if you want to join as an independent business. The cost of that fee is $499 and what you get are materials and some training. However, it is not said at this time how good that training is.

Then you have to pay a $149 fee every year to renew your ‘license’ with ACN and continue to be an independent representative through their company. But that is not all; there is still a $39 monthly fee to get the rest of the help you need to operate your own business through their business.

There are even more fees as you must bear the cost of the weekly meetings and extra training sessions. Those costs can range between $10 and $149. You need to sell their products and recruit lots of people to have a healthy business somewhere in between.

It all adds up, but you should get some people to sign up and make some money with the training. How much you make will depend on your work ethic.

Can You Make Money with ACN?

Anything is possible when it comes to MLM corporations. As you can see, the road to making money is a tough one to travel as you are held down by the many fees you have to pay.

If you happen to hit virgin territory, you stand a better chance of making some money than you would if you are busy competing with customer reps from your firm. You do have a wide range of products that pay you a commission on what you sell. Some of those commissions come from the recurring charges those products carry.

In other words, you may get a commission for every monthly payment your customer makes. That can add up if you sign up a lot of people. Then, of course, you will have the commission split from your recruits to help pad your income.

Their hard work should bring in some extra money to help you when your sales are not going well. So you can make some money through ACN. You have to be in the right place at the right time, and you are good as gold.

Examples Of How To Make Money With ACN

The first way to make money through ACN is to sign up for some customers, and you will get 1% of their monthly payment. If their payment is only $30 a month, you get a whopping 30 cents every month per customer.

That one percent can go higher depending on what products you sell and sell, but don’t hold your breath that you will be making a lot of money through your hard sales effort.

The reason your recurring sales commission is so low is that you get a piece of the action from your recruits. In other words, you make money through their sales effort. That money comes from those same monthly payments they get a cut from.

Then there are bonuses you can receive. But the catch is they have qualified downline members, and you only have so much time to recruit these people. If you get the right members, those bonuses should help you move up in the financial world a little bit.

Basically, the way to make money is to sell many products and recruit more people than available who like to work in sales.

The Pros & Cons of ACN Inc

Every MLM company has positives and negatives. If you only look at the positives, then you are not really looking honestly at the company. You need the negatives to make sure this is the type of company you want to work for.

Pros:

• A variety of products to represent
• 25 markets to work in depending on your location
• Work your own hours
• Be your own boss
• Established company to work for
• Recurring commissions
• Commissions from recruits
• Bonuses available

Cons:

• It’s an MLM corporation
• You have to pay to play
• The cost to join is very high, over $1000
• Hard to make money, and you have to make a lot of sales to do it
• It would help if you did a lot of recruiting
• There is a high failure rate
• The training is not as good as it should be
• Lots of competition
• The products are not inexpensive to purchase
• There are lots of cheaper alternatives

Any Negatives? Beware of Lawsuits

As with many MLM companies, there are a lot of negatives. One being, of course, is the type of training and its lack of quality. You pay for training, but the word is that it doesn’t really help you out.

Also, there is a lot of hype to get your eyes off the difficulties and onto the money, you may make if you are lucky. The hype exists to hook you. Plus, you are behind the 8-ball from the get-go. After paying over $1000 to play, you have your work cut out for you to reimburse those costs and earn a profit.

Then there are the lawsuits. In 2002 and 2010, ACN had to face lawsuits about fraud account switching and other ethical issues. Part of the problem in the latter lawsuit was the actions of the independent reps, and ACN was forced to implement more training.

There were no monetary amounts discussed in those lawsuits, but they did arise and mar the ACN name. There are more negatives, but you can find those out when you research this company before deciding to join up.

Is ACN Inc Legitimate?

Because ACN is an MLM corporation and has some negative aspects and lawsuits filed against it, it does not mean the company is not legitimate. It has expanded into and been approved to work in 25 international markets.

That fact alone tells you it is a legitimate company. It does offer those products and helps people set them up. Just because salaries are very difficult to receive and many people fail at selling those products also does not make the company illegitimate.

Even unethical business practices do not make it an illegitimate company. If you sign up, you will have to work hard to make a living, but the company has been around for almost 30 years, making a profit where it can.

What happens after you sign up is between you, the company, and the courts if it goes that far.

Final Thoughts

Even though we like MLM corporations, and some are very good to work for, it is hard to recommend ACN. Their unethical practices and complicated compensation plan are hard to overcome, and they say this is a good company to be associated with.

The variety of products they represent helps the sales rep always sell something to someone and make a little money. But that variety is not enough to overcome the many negatives associated with ACN.

You will have to make your own determination, and if you are a good salesman, you should be able to sell these products and make a living. Just do your research and hope you live in a region that is prime for ACN products. That is the best way to get ahead in this company.
