Baby Boomers Looking For Work: Start Here!

Are you one of the baby boomers looking for work? Here’s what I know about baby boomers. I am one of them because I was born between 1946 and 1964.

If you are a baby boomer and find yourself looking for work, this article might be of interest to you. The reason for that is very simple.

As people continue to live longer they do not retire as early as they used to. For one thing many cannot afford to retire.

For another many are not ready to retire because they want to keep busy and one way to do that is to start another career. You can certainly do that and maybe even put in 20 years in your new career.

You could also just go out and find a part-time, or even a full-time job doing something that might help create more income or be emotionally fulfilling to you. Boomers do this every day!

You might even consider starting an Internet business which is what I’m going to talk about toward the end of this article. So, let’s talk about a few of the ways that baby boomers can move into the next phase of their life and start a second career, work another job, or even start an online business!

Part-Time Jobs

One thing I want to mention, in part-time jobs is to consider what you’ve done in your first career and how you might be able to put that to use working part-time for another company. Some of the best jobs are not even advertised and you can start out by creating a resume and just getting it out into the hands of the right people and companies that you might want to work part-time for.

If you’re considering just making extra money look at retail and food industry types of businesses that are always hiring. The largest ones, of course, would be McDonald’s, Walmart and so on.

You could also consider a part-time job working from home using a site such as Flex jobs.com to research jobs. This is known as telecommuting and could be a way to pick up some extra money while controlling your schedule and doing it all from home.

Consultant

If you’ve recently retired consider whether you could possibly take business contacts you had previously to develop a new career as a consultant. Professionals are in demand if they have knowledge that can be passed on to other people. The great thing about this is you can build your business as large as you want and take on as many clients as you want.

Another thing I might point out here is the ability to use the Internet to start a consulting business. Frank Kern is a professional who teaches other professionals how to launch consulting businesses in multiple niches based on what was previously done.

Be A Teacher

Another way you can pass on the knowledge that you have is to become a teacher. You might do this at traditional kindergarten through 12th-grade schools, community colleges, or starting your own tutoring business.

If you don’t want to go the long route to getting a teaching license take a look at community colleges and see if they offer a fast-track program to get that done so that you can start your teaching career quicker.

You can also get a teaching degree online if you so desire in getting a high-paying job full or part-time. You can take a look at Walden University. They offer a very wide variety of degrees that you can choose from.

Work For A Non-Profit

This is a good way to get involved in your community while making a difference. Not all nonprofit work is done by volunteers who are working for free.

Many nonprofits have paid positions where you can take your previous career experience and put that to good use making a difference by doing something meaningful in the next chapter of your baby boomer life.

Direct Sales

I’m going to tell you something that may surprise you in the direct sales industry. Many of the people who are making really good money in direct sales do it from the comfort of their own homes and on the Internet.

Their direct selling is never done face-to-face. You have to start thinking a little bit out of the box and get beyond the Avon lady, or the Mary Kay cosmetics consultant.

Today there are almost 100 direct sales companies that do over $100 million a year in business. This is a field that can become extremely lucrative to you and allow you to work virtually anywhere that you have Internet access. Visit this website to learn more.

One way to work for yourself is to buy a franchise or start a franchise business. There are many benefits that come from becoming a franchise owner including the fact that you’re given a blueprint for success. This is perhaps the most exciting way that baby boomers looking for work can find it in the next chapter of their life. There’s really nothing that isn’t possible to be done with an online business.

Take a look at everything from building information websites, selling digital information such as e-books, starting your own network marketing business, starting an e-commerce business and selling on eBay or Amazon, or my favourite of all which is the affiliate marketing business model.

Get paid to perform a specific action for an affiliate merchant. I suggest that you take a look at the wealthy affiliate program which you can start for free that will teach you everything you need to know about making money and affiliate marketing. Many baby boomers are jumping into affiliate marketing all around the world!
