What is Ruby Ribbon?

Ruby Ribbon is a social apparel company with a nationwide network of personal Stylists. It was founded by Anna Zornosa and Deborah Uri in 2011 and currently holds its headquarters at Burlingame, California.

Zornosa founded the company after being inspired to create unique shapewear apparel, which is only available through social marketing. In 2014, Ruby Ribbon began its expansion when the gig economy was booming and capitalized on the desire of women to have a side hustle. Ruby Ribbon’s products were solely marketed using social networking.

According to Zornosa, Ruby Ribbon is an innovative company that provides solutions to the changing needs of US women. Ruby Ribbon offers camisoles, bras, shapers, etc. They are well known for the camisole, also known as Ruby Ribbon’s cami. It is a wire-free camisole with variable compression, a shapewear technology that helps slim and smoothens a woman’s body curve. The same technology is applied to the other Ruby Ribbon apparel.

How does the Ruby Ribbon MLM work?

Ruby Ribbon is similar to MLM companies, where members direct products and recruit other people to become members. Ruby Ribbon calls its sellers Stylists. As their Stylist, you can earn up to 40% commission on all sales, commissions from your recruits’ sales, bonuses, and perks such as free products, training, and travel.

The following table shows a summary of Ruby Ribbon’s commission scheme for their Stylists.

LevelPersonal Qualifying SalesCommission
Bronze$1 – $1,49920%
Silver$1,500 – $2,49925%
Gold$2,500 – $3,49930%
Platinum$3,500 – $4,99935%
Ruby$5,000+40%

When you recruit a new Stylist, you can get a 25% First order bonus from the new stylist’s first order while your upline earns 5%. But to qualify for this, you and your upline should have $300 qualifying sales in a calendar month.

Like other MLMs, you need to meet several requirements to advance your position. The following lists the leadership positions and the requirements needed to go to these levels:

  • Associate Director
    • $1,500 Personal Qualifying Sales
    • $5,500 Levels 1 – 3 Qualifying Volume
    • 3 Personally sponsored qualified active stylists with $300 in qualifying sales in a calendar month
  • Director
    • $1,500 Personal Qualifying Sales
    • $25,000 Levels 1 – 3 Qualifying Volume
    • $10,000 Qualifying Volume outside the largest branch
    • 5 Personally sponsored qualified active stylists with $300 in qualifying sales in a calendar month
  • Associate Vice President
    • $1,500 Personal Qualifying Sales
    • $50,000 Levels 1 – 3 Qualifying Volume
    • $25,000 Qualifying Volume outside the largest branch
    • 7 Personally sponsored qualified active stylists with $300 in qualifying sales in a calendar month
  • Vice President
    • $1,500 Personal Qualifying Sales
    • $100,000 Levels 1 – 3 Qualifying Volume
    • $60,000 Qualifying Volume outside the largest branch
    • 12 Personally sponsored qualified active stylists with $300 in qualifying sales in a calendar month
  • Executive Vice President
    • $1,500 Personal Qualifying Sales

Aside from getting better pay, you can also get bonuses such as the Unilevel bonus and Mentoring Bonus when you advance to leadership positions. Unilevel bonuses are percentages paid on all sales except the new stylist’s new order. All leadership levels get bonuses from their three levels down. At the same time, the Mentoring bonuses are commissions from your sales and uni-level bonuses for your personally recruited stylists.

Also, when you become an Associate VP, VP and EVP, you will be eligible to get 1 to 3 numbers of company shares called the VP Pool.

Can You Make Money with Ruby Ribbon?

Yes, I can say that you can make money with Ruby Ribbon. But the reality is, the income is not that much, just like most MLM programs. According to Ruby Ribbon’s income disclosure for 2020, 94.3% of their stylists earned an average of $2,100 per month for that year, as shown in the table below.

Career LevelAverage % of Paid StylistsAverage per month
Stylist94.3%$2,100
Associate Director3.4%$26,600
Director0.8%$47,600
Associate Vice President0.7%$76,000
Vice President0.5%$113,500
Executive Vice President0.1%$156,100

The $2,100 average earnings of a Stylist can pay for your product kits but may not leave much and definitely, may not be enough to leave your full-time job.

As you can see, similar to other MLM income reports, the ones earning higher income are those in higher positions. And to get to these levels, you need to work harder and recruit more people as your downline. You can also see that only a few achieve higher positions while the majority remain stylists.

How To Make Money With the Ruby Ribbon?

To earn more money with Ruby Ribbon, you will need to recruit new Stylists to become your downline. So you can build a passive income from the sales they make and be eligible for the bonuses.

Ruby Ribbon also has a weekly “Cami Challenge” where Stylists or customers challenge their friends on social media to ditch their bras and try the cami for a day. Then they post their testimonies on their social media account and challenge other friends to do the same. The positive reviews help promote the product and open up Stylists’ opportunities to get more potential sales or recruit new Stylists.

Aside from this, you can also apply to host a Trunk Show. This is either an in-person or virtual event where a hostess gets together with other people and invites a stylist to bring the latest camis, leggings, demis, and sports apparel to try on. The hostess can earn 50% discount coupons and a free shipping coupon if the show makes $300 in sales and above.

Ruby Ribbon Review: Pros & Cons

Ruby Ribbon may be a reputable company, but it has pros and cons, like other MLM companies.

Pros:

  • Quality products
  • Easy to sell products
  • Legitimate company with a good reputation
  • Positive reviews

Cons:

  • Expensive kits
  • Poor customer service
  • No real-time assistance
  • Difficult refund process
  • Low income

Any Negatives? Beware of Lawsuits

I did not find any lawsuits against Ruby Ribbon, but unsatisfied customers and stylists are here and there. Some complaints are about not receiving refunds for the wrong items the customers have already shipped back at their own expense. This is according to the submitted complaints and reviews on the BBB website. Their customer review rating is 1.33 out of 5 stars as of this writing.

legitimate company for this Ruby Ribbon ReviewIs the Ruby Ribbon Legitimate?

Ruby Ribbon is a legitimate company and offers a good business opportunity. They have been around for a while, so the company might have closed down years ago if they were a scam.

Final Thoughts on One Of Ruby Ribbon Reviews

The products have plenty of good Rubby Ribbon reviews, especially their camis, but I think they should improve their customer service and refund and returns. I also believe that becoming a Stylist is not for everyone despite their claim. If you don’t have a sales background but are outgoing and know many people, perhaps this is a good side hustle for you.

But if that’s not your cup of tea, don’t worry; other earning opportunities can probably suit you, such as becoming an affiliate marketer. If you feel that you lack the knowledge and the skill, you can utilize an online learning platform to help you get started. Check out my #1 recommendation on how to build a successful business.
