What is Arise Work From Home?

Arise Work From Home is an online job marketplace that connects big companies to work from home and remote workers to perform customer service jobs. It is part of Arise Virtual Solutions, a company that also offers other business solutions such as omnichannel contact center support, business continuity, consulting services, limitless learning, etc.

The company started in 1994 and has its headquarters in Miramar, Florida, USA. The current CEO of Arise is Scott Etheridge, who joined the company in 2009. He has over 20 years of leadership experience from Liz Claiborne and NBC Universal, a former GE subsidiary.

After knowing a bit about the company and its current CEO, let’s talk about what Arise Work From Home can offer you. As I’ve said earlier, it provides work-from-home jobs such as customer service representatives.

However, there are several requirements before you can start working. For example:

  • own equipment
  • set up LLC
  • provide bank details
  • pass the certification course
  • etc.

I will discuss these requirements more later in my Arise Work From Home Review.

When you get accepted, you have the freedom to work from the comforts of your home, with the freedom to choose your schedule.

Can You Make Money with Arise Work From Home?

Yes, you can make money with Arise Work From Home. However, you need to invest a lot of money first. You have to pay for some requirements upfront. Aside from that, you need to have money to purchase the equipment with the correct specifications if you have none of them yet.

How To Make Money With the Arise Work From Home?

Certainly, Arise Work From Home is not a get-rich-quick scheme where you can instantly start making money. Just like putting up a business that can cost thousands of dollars, expect to invest around $1,000 on start-up costs with Arise Work From Home. And according to them, their total estimated start-up cost is anywhere from $250 up to $770.

Start-up costs include:

  • $100 – $350 LLC set up, varies by state
  • $75 estimate for phone line installation fee
  • $35 – $100 for a telephone keypad, VOIP, or a gaming headset
  • $50 – $250 for the Initial certification course

Also, there are recurring fees to consider as well:

  • $39.50 per month for using the Arise Work From Home platform
  • $60 monthly estimate for the high-speed internet service (the company of your choice)
  • $18 – $35 per month for the phone line service (local provider)

This does not include the equipment expenses, which can cost you around $300 up to $700 for a laptop or a desktop computer. And spend about $25 up to $75 for the headset. In reality, you could be spending over $1,000+ for the start-up cost, fees, and equipment.

So after making this investment, how much money will you be earning with Arise Work From Home?

According to Arise Work From Home, the hourly rate of service partners vary based on the complexity of the client’s program. This could also include how many hours you work during the program’s peak season, where hourly rates are relatively higher. The service partner’s hourly rates range from $10 to $16 or more.

Any Negatives? Beware of Lawsuits

After digging online, I found several lawsuits have been filed against Arise Work From Home since 2011. One lawsuit, in particular, was filed in 2014. A service partner from Houston represented by labor attorney Shannon Liss-Riordan filed an arbitration case against the company. The arbitrator ruled that the plaintiff functioned as an employee despite Arise’s insistence that their agents are independent contractors.

Arise was ordered to pay $11,683.64, which is double the unpaid minimum wage of the agent. The amount includes damages, attorney costs, and other fees after finding that Arise had no excellent legal basis for their defense.

It is worth mentioning here that most of the lawsuits were about the violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is due to the misclassification of agents as independent contractors while exercising extensive control.

In the lawsuits, service partners are not independent contractors but rather customer service or support agents who perform work on Arise’s behalf. Arise requires training, equipment, and other mandatory requirements, all at your own expense. Moreover, the service partners are closely supervised by Arise’s agents, conducting frequent monitoring and review.

In addition to these lawsuits are the complaints and negative reviews about Arise Work From Home. More than 100+ complaints have been filed on the BBB website in the last three years. Most of these complaints are about not getting any refund, being suddenly removed from the program, technical issues, and so on.

Is the Arise Work From Home Legitimate?

I can say that Arise Work From Home is a legitimate company and not a scam. Their platform brings you legitimate jobs from Disney, Intuit, Carnival Cruises, and more.

Final Thoughts

Arise Work From Home could cost you a lot of money, time, and effort. But if you’re ready to go through all that and commit to it long-term, then perhaps this is for you but proceed with caution.
