Starting A Home Business – In The Eyes Of The Middle Class!

People of all kinds are starting a home business, but there is a growing number of those described as the middle class that are doing so.

Why?

Everyone has their own reasons and there is no standard answer to this.

What Is Your Reason?

In the 21st century, a middle-class person is getting away from working for companies. Companies have let the middle class down in many ways, and so have governments. Here are some of these ways:

1. Lack of jobs.

One reason for this includes the diminishing availability of good-paying public jobs.

Whether these are private or public sector jobs, finding them has been harder to do in the last 10 years. Today we see that starting to change as unemployment is finally going down.

2. More opportunities.

Another is the increasing availability of successful home-based business opportunities.

This used to be mostly MLM companies, but now you can find all different types of business models. I am a big supporter of affiliate marketing and opportunities like Wealthy Affiliate show you how to start a home-based business as an affiliate marketer.

Starting A Home Business causes you to spend more time with your kids3. Family.

Many of the millennial generations need to be home for children or the family. I know I have in the past and still today.

Sometimes necessity dictates that a person works from home. This can be either moms or dads as it is no longer just the mom staying home with kids.

4. Comfort is another reason people prefer to work from home.

They have not been restricted the way they would be in an office environment. They don’t have to sit in one position at a desk or Varidesk if they have one.

They can move around from an easy chair to the sofa, to the desk as they choose. Also, they even get up and go for a walk if they want. When a person works from home, there are no formalities required.

5. Productivity.

Many people have found that they can be more productive from home than they can be in an office. Companies have started using telecommuting for this reason.

There are interruptions in the office including the public dropping in, meetings with co-workers, and all sorts of noises and other distractions. The lack of privacy causes stress and decreases a person’s job satisfaction.

Most of the things that people work in today’s world are solo activities. They work at coding, writing, programming, search engine optimization, or even marketing totally alone until their projects are completed. They then show their work and get feedback either from their customers or their collaborators.

6. Thirty-second commute.

Avoiding commuting is another reason people prefer to work from home.

There is nothing worse than starting and ending your day by driving through bumper-to-bumper traffic with rude drivers causing problems. It is much easier to stay at home in the peace and quiet of your own abode. A place that is more comfortable and one where you feel better because you are familiar with the surroundings.

7. Schedule.

People work in different styles. Some people like to start early while others always start late.

At home, this is not a problem, but in an office environment, everyone must start and stop at the same time. The Internet is open 24 hours a day and your home business can be as well.

meeting in the workplace8. The home business makes meals easier.

Working in the public restricts your eating a sandwich or a thirty-minute rush to the local eating gallery.

At home, you can have whatever you want from your cupboard or refrigerator. You can eat at your own leisure and aren’t restricted to 30 minutes for your break. Your meals are cleaner and healthier because you are the one that prepares them.

9. Focus on the family.

Working in a home business restores the balance needed with family.

Most people aren’t close with their fellow workers at the office, but they spend a great deal of their time there with strangers. They would much prefer to be with their own spouse and children.

10. Save money.

The financial aspect of not having to buy gas or spend money on buses or other transportation is a big reason for the home business being preferred by the middle class.

You no longer need to eat out or purchase expensive clothing. Dry cleaning no longer needs to be a constant chore. More money can be saved for retirement.

11. Tax benefits.

It has been said it is not what you make, but what you keep that matters most.

A home business gives the middle class a tax advantage they can use at their jobs. Legal home business deductions allow you to change your deductions at work so you take home more of your pay in every pay period.

You can then use this money to fund your home business. You won’t get the big tax return every year, but you will have your money right away rather than giving it to the Federal government to keep it for you.

12. Make more money.

The middle class is getting squeezed as more people fall into this category.

Living from month to month has created more months at the end of the money. Starting a home business is one answer to this problem.

You control how much you make by how hard you work. This is a big reason to start a home business if money is tight all the time.

Final thoughts

A middle-class person has plenty of reasons to start a home business including tax relief, potential higher earnings, savings on transportation, family functionality, and peace of mind. Your reasons are personal.

Starting A Home Business to create an income that grows overtime

I have always loved the fact that having an Internet business does not discriminate against anybody in any way. The Internet doesn’t care whether you’re black or white, rich or poor, man or woman, old or young, and so on.

Everybody has the same chance. However, this is really true for people in the middle class because of the large number of them in the marketplace today.

You can start a home business for little to no money today using the Internet and business models such as affiliate marketing, network marketing, eCommerce, Fulfillment by Amazon, etc. This gives you a high number of ways to get started after you have determined your own Why.

  1. Hi, you made a very good summary why people start their own business. It is an good guidance for me since I finally decide to focus my efforts and start my own business. You mentioned that as a self business, there is tax benefits. Is it possible for you to give more detailed tax plan? How should I document my business activities and business cost etc?

  2. Hello David,

Your article is such a helpful one to read. Wow, I have been looking for such an opportunity. I surely agree with you that unemployment is increasingly becoming so many.

And one thing I like about this home business is that fact that it allows you to have more time for the family – especially the children.

And as a result, we all need to think of starting some home base business. I really have interest in affiliate marketing as you recommended.

However, I don’t know how to build my own website. So my question is, will your recommended community teach also on how to do that?

Please let me hear your reply to this question.

  3. For me, the benefit of being home for my kids when they need me is probably the biggest factor in choosing to work at home, though as you point out, there are many other good reasons.

I enjoy knowing that I am available for my kids, but I also love the fact that I can work when it is best for me.

Some people work better during the day, and some work better at night. When you work at home, you can find that time when you are most productive and take advantage of it.

It definitely isn’t as easy as we sometimes imagine it to be, but it sure beats working in an office.

    • Craig, thank you for taking the time and leaving an honest and valuable comment. Working at home is a win-win situation however you decide to slice it. the benefits are tremendous and the savings are huge. Here in the US, Auncle Sam, not related to any of my family, gives you different tax break by working your own business from home, and the money that you can get exempt for can add up over a period of time. So yes, working from home is my choice and I will recommend to all going forward. Take care.

  4. I have recently started my online business. It has been a few months already. I agree, it is nice not to have a long commute to and from work. I think more and more people are becoming interested in online marketing. It allows for a lot of flexibility.

  5. I have a very hectic schedule at times so the flexibility is a requirement for me. I maybe away from home for weeks or months at a time. With an internet business I can work from anywhere as long as I have my computer and internet.
This is a great way to get out of the rat race and do what you want to do instead of having to do things.
    Wish you the best success,

    • Hey Jim, This was exactly the reason I had to get a business to work from home. Live in North Carolina with my family but I still work in New York at the time. So I had to get away from that constant traveling back and forth. At first, it was difficult not having much time to work on my business, but I kept building it and stayed focus.

The members of Wealthy Affiliate helped me in the process and it paid off. Now I want to do the same for others so people can spend time with their families. Glad that you made that wise choice and thanks again for stopping by and leaving a comment. Take care.

Without pressure, having peace of mind, being our own boss, not working to build others dream, building our own empire etc etc As you said we can eat in peace…. Thanks a Lot!
